On a Mission

Currently, FW missions are the fastest way to make LP in FW. You can gain upwards of 35K+ LP for a mission, with very little work. In fact, it takes longer to go pick up missions than it does to complete them in most cases, and most of the time involved in completing them comes from visiting your agents.

Many have said that missions are too easy. Originally, they were meant to take you to hostile space. With the sovereignty changes and the legacy systems, it is now possible (and for the Minmatar probable) that you will be sent to your militia’s own systems.

Others say that Missions shouldn’t payout so much LP. That missions should be lower on the rung of payouts for FW, with pvp and plexing more toward the top.

But, what will happen if we make missions harder and/or significantly reduce the rewards?

No one will mission.

What would be the point? You can get LP more easily/faster elsewhere. Missioning doesn’t affect sovereignty. And, furthermore, missioning can greatly slaughter your Faction standings preventing you from entering highsec if you were to leave FW later on.

It’s not like they’re that exciting, so they won’t be worth the trouble.

  1. Care do tell me what mission gives " 35K+" LP? So far I've only gotten like 9K LP at the max for L4 FW missions and it always took some time to do since there were always gatecamps on the way and ppl in the mission system...

    1. I'm not sure what missions you are doing, but I've never gotten one that gave me as little as 9K. Most of the ones I do usually net 28-35K.

  2. You can get up to 20k LP with near max social skills running level 4's, nerfing the FW Mission rewards would help deter part of that farming army that swaps militias based on warzone control that you all love to complain about so much.

    1. You can make much more than 20K on one mission. Also, people don't swap sides to mission run. Mission running requires standings, and will give you negative standings with the hostile militia. It would be hard to switch sides and get to the place again where you can do lvl 4s.

  3. So, the gist of your argument is that FW missioning should be removed from the game? Works for me.

  4. There are a lot of questions with winter approaching. Will it still be just 35k? Or will the tier store affect it? At tier V that 35k could become 105k. If you pick up four or five of those and you can easily keep the upgrades in place in a system. That does affect a lot.

    1. Yeah, but that's going to be one of the only reasons to run missions, to build up lp so you don't have to plex to keep system upgrades. After they change the tier system, FW LP isn't going to be worth much.

  5. Well, with this winters changes to the tier system, you're going to see a mass farmer exodus from FW because the isk/lp ratios for almost everything in the LP store will crash hard. Implants, Minmatar (and maybe Caldari) datacores and faction ships will likely be NEGATIVE isk/lp for a while. It might make the exodus away from incursions look tiny in comparison. CCP sure dug themselves a hole with this one, lol.

If they plan on keeping any of the increased numbers in FW after this winter, they're going to need some seriously kick-ass system upgrades and/or new stuff for the LP stores. Otherwise, the farmers would be better off running highsec lvl4's again as the conversion ratios will be much better.

    1. I hope CCP doesn't think it is a goal to keep the bloated current FW membership numbers. I hope all the pilots/alts who joined fw just to make isk do indeed leave. Farmers go home! run your high sec lv 4s again! It isn't good for fw to have a ton of farmers in it so I assume it is NOT the plan to keep any of the increased numbers in FW. Now if the pvp becomes more attractive and more pilots that like to fight in small gangs and solo will join FW to fight, great!

A mass farmer exodus is exactly what CCP and myself WANT to see.

    2. I agree with you. Higher numbers of bloodthirsty pilots that actually contribute to the war zone will be needed for the launch of DUST. Mission farmers aren't going to do squat for contestation levels or system defense, or pvp (maybe the new ai might help with that). If I gave the impression that I wanted those farmers to stick around, I didn't mean to.

  6. its a good job FW was never about pvp or people might not like it.
