Drama? Not in Eve! Certainly Not in the CSM!

This morning I tuned in to the blog pack to read this. While I really didn't know anything about the Issler issue, I was somewhat impressed at how well written this post was, and how informative with out being mind-numbingly boring or full of ridiculous, dramatic drivel.

I suggest you read it. I'd be interested in getting another take--perhaps someone who defends Issler, if there is such a person?

Also, what I have to say about the Mittens Controversy:

No Elbow Grease Required

Last week I wrote an open letter to Trebor about the spam he sent out as a part of his campaign. This partially resulted in a Friday afternoon philosophy lesson from Jester from Jester's Trek, as well as a long letter from Trebor himself. If you wouldn't already rather dig out your eyes with a cheese grater, or sit on hot coals than read more about the CSM, I'd suggest you go read them.

The truth of the matter is, while CCP can ban spamming, enforcing the ban is a different thing altogether.

Detection will be the first problem. After all, people send legitimate, non-spam mail to multiple recipients every day, so how would you detect between the two?

Not to mention that you can’t undo spam in the way you could undo in-game exploits. Where a GM could take away someone’s assets or undo an action as a result of a player using a known exploit, they can’t take away the annoyance or make people unread mail that has already been delivered. Once it hits your inbox—once the message is out, the deed has been done and the purpose fulfilled.

Sure, they could ban the spammer’s account, but since you can send mail on any trial account, a spammer who intends to get a message out will find a way to do it…without it costing a dime.

Just a fast survey on the CSM. (Not about specific candidates.)

Poll will close once 100 participants have been reached, and results will be published shortly afterwards.

Why I'm Voting for Hans Jagerblitzen

I'm a little ADD, which is why I was a little rude to Hans Jagerblitzen when I saw his 23 page platform document. Not to mention the long candidacy forum post, and yadda yadda yadda.

"Hans, can't you just give me the 'this is what I think in five short sentences or less' version?" I asked him once in-game. He was very obliging, quickly summarizing his main points--something I could easily read over while we were camping an Amarrian home system out-gate.

Shortly after, the 'Save the Pirates' video was born--mostly as a way for others to get the gist of his platform without taking the time to read his novel. I do not take ownership of any of his views (I agree and disagree with him on various specifics) but I hope I was able to capture some of the 'epicness' of how he writes sometimes--as if you're reading the script to a Braveheart-like movie with an axe man running around screaming "Freeeedooom!"
