7 Questions You Should Ask All New PVP Recruits

Ever have an awkward silence in a recruitment chat where you (in vain) try to remember all the questions you should ask? Ever finish a conversation and feel like you got nowhere, and know nothing about a new recruit, but don’t know what else to ask? Ever start flying with a new recruit and realize they are nothing like you thought they would be?

Many recruiters make the mistake of digging for facts, without asking the probing questions that can get to a heart of a pvper. They find out all the details, and necessary ‘information’ but fail to deduce whether the personality of the recruitee will be welcomed in the corp. It is important to ask a variety of questions that will help you not only find out the ins and outs about the capabilities of a toon, but to also learn about the personality behind the avatar.

5 Fun Corp Ops Anyone Could Do

Sometimes, you just run out of ideas of things to do. Over the years of playing EVE, I’ve been on many different kinds of ops. Some of them were merely lol ops, others were more serious experiments. Whether you’re a new corp trying to get new members involved, or an older corp trying to get that ‘spark’ back, doing a themed op might be just the trick.

#1. Frigate Roam. Frigate roams can be wildly popular, and effective if done correctly. You are fast, agile, and can usually get away from most camps and hot drops. Instead of doing a general frigate roam, try changing it up a bit. An old corp I was in long ago used to do remote-rep punisher gangs. Everyone would fit guns they were specced for and would vary the free midslot with a point, web, jammer, etc. We’d get a good gang of 7-8 punishers, and would have a blast while usually taking out something expensive. Of course, we usually all died. But it didn’t matter---it was just a punisher. And if we killed someone’s tech 2 cruiser, it was well worth the lulz.

Eve Corporation: Battling Inactivity

Every corporation goes through phases. Some last longer than others, and all eventually pass. However, a long phase of inactivity can cause a corporation to spiral downward, and to even close its doors. It’s the ‘unseen enemy’—the silent foe of CEOs everywhere.

It usually turns into a vicious circle, where the active pilots you seek will not join due to your inactivity, and your inactivity can not be resolved until you recruit more active pilots. Though getting some new voices into the mix could be a perfect way to mash things up enough and perk some interest, it should not be the only thing that you do to increase the activity of your corporation.

Random Corp Discussions: SOFU2

I enjoy chatting with random folks from different parts of Eve, and seeing how different corps play. A recent corp I came in contact with was 'Soldiers of Fortune United.' (The corp has a '.' at the end of it.) The corp opened its doors less then two weeks ago and already boasts over 100 members.

According to their blog, SOFU2 is a corp "created due to the lack of any organized group in EVE online"
Apparently, the CEO was fed up waiting for fellow corp mates to get online to pvp, and decided on a system of planned out weekly pvp ops.
The corp doesn't seem to have any killboard up and running yet, but it will be interesting to see how far (and how big) they go.
